Welcome to the Farsi Learners Network

Whilst trying to learn Farsi, we found that there was a real shortage of information online, especially for people coming to the subject from outside of specialist university departments. Nothing about the quality, price, practicalities of studying in Iran. No links to online resources or reviews of paper textbooks for example. We had a lot of questions, and no answers.

HafezHowever, we later found that there were lots of people out there who did have the answers. Some of them had spent years studying both in Iran and their own countries. These people were great and made our lives a lot easier. Unfortunately, they can be very hard to find, often hiding in strange places like Bulgarian houseparties, English ice-hockey teams, or Turkish trains.

So, we've created this wiki to help them share their information with each other, and with anyone who's new to the field. It all looks a bit high-tech to begin with, but dont worry. Even if you're studying somewhere utterly backwards (Cambridge University for example) and have never heard of a wiki, we can help you out. Just look thought he tutorials, and if that fails, email Tom. He's unemployed, so he should get back to you as soon as he's finished watching Trisha.

So far, we have information on University-based courses and some private tutors, all in Iran. There is also a nice links section, mostly to forums and some enviably good electronic resources from the US universities. Just use the links on the right to explore for yourself.

Before you do that, bear in mind that this is not supposed to be a one-man show! If you know something about Farsi courses, then please add it! If you dont know how, just email Tom and he'll help you.

Be Salamat...

P.S. To make all this work even better (as some people will doubtless be too lazy to add their tuppenceworth here), we've created groups on facebook and couchsurfing. See the 'Facebook and other groups' page for links and more details. You can use these groups to find realworld farsi learners and ask them questions.
