Private Tuition

Page history last edited by PBworks 15 years, 7 months ago

Unsuprisingly, in a country full of highly literate unemployed people, there are plenty of private tutors around. If you're happy arranging your own invitation, accomodation and social life, this could be good way to learn.

Sayeed Mohammed Pur, Yazd

Bridging the gap between institutional and private tution, Mohammad Pur offers personally tailored classes and one on one tution, but also has a comprehensive syllabus, plenty of up to date teaching materials, and a degree in teaching foreign languages. Additionally, he and his wife (also a teacher) can accomodate one or two students at a time in their home.

Review 1:

"Mohammad is professional, kind, an excellent teacher and now a good friend. I guess that makes the following review biased, but then you're probably all over-educated to the point where you've long since stopped believing in objectivity.

I met Mohammad by chance during a holiday in Yazd. Not being in a hurry to get anywhere, I accepted his invitation to stay at his home for a week and he showed me the Farsi course he'd been working on. Since then, he's taught me several lessons to fine-tune his lesson plans and I've been very impressed. As a relative beginner, the fact that he has created some comprehensive syllabi was very helpful, and I know that he's been to Tehran recently to meet with other Farsi teachers and improve these. He also has a good range of learning materials.

He has told me that he'd happily teach anything from a two-week to two month course, and given a few weeks notice can prepare such a course in concert with the student or their existing Farsi teacher. He is also offering accomodation and (amazing) meals for up to two students at a time. I would reccomend staying with them, as they are kind, intelligent, open and welcoming people. Over and above even the Iranian standard! Their flat is comfortable, has a brilliant terrace for all-night conversations, and whilst not particularly central is only one 'servis' from Meidan-e Beheshti."
